Description
Gangotri is one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimage sites, located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand at an altitude of about 3,100 meters above sea level. It is dedicated to Goddess Ganga and marks the place where the holy river Ganga is believed to have descended to Earth from heaven. Gangotri is one of the four sacred shrines of the Char Dham Yatra and holds immense spiritual significance for devotees.Surrounded by majestic Himalayan peaks, dense forests, and the serene Bhagirathi River, Gangotri offers a peaceful and divine atmosphere. The Gangotri Temple, built in the 18th century, attracts thousands of pilgrims every year who come to seek blessings and spiritual purification. The temple remains open from April/May to October/November, closing during winter due to heavy snowfall.
