The Yamunotri and Gangotri temples are two of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand, India, forming the starting points of two of India’s most revered rivers—Yamuna and Ganga. Visiting these dhams is considered spiritually uplifting and is a major part of the Himalayan pilgrimage circuit.

This 5 Days / 4 Nights journey offers devotees a perfect blend of devotion, natural beauty, and peaceful Himalayan surroundings. The trip allows pilgrims to comfortably explore Yamunotri Temple and Gangotri Temple, perform sacred rituals, and experience the serene origins of the holy rivers while traveling through scenic mountain landscapes.

1. Yamunotri
Location: Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, at an altitude of ~3,291 meters
Significance: Yamunotri is the source of River Yamuna and is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Pilgrims take holy dips in the hot water springs nearby, which are believed to have medicinal and spiritual benefits.
Temple Details: The main temple was built in 1839 by Maharani Guleria of Jaipur. It is open from late April / early May to October (depends on weather).
Access: 6–7 km trek from Janki Chatti or 13 km trek from Hanuman Chatti.

2. Gangotri
Location: Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, at an altitude of ~3,100 meters
Significance: Gangotri is the origin of River Ganga, considered sacred by Hindus. The Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga, is visited by thousands of pilgrims during the Char Dham Yatra.
Temple Details: Built by Gorakhnath in the 18th century, it marks the starting point of the river, which emerges from the Gaumukh glacier. The temple remains open from late April / early May to November.
Access: 3 km trek from the roadhead at Gangotri town to the temple area.
